1. What one thing did you do better today?
I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried a new illustration style.
2. Has doing so made you or someone else feel better?
3. Has it brought any new realisations?
I haven’t tried the trial and error method in a while when it comes to illustration. Then I watched some tutorials, learned some new tricks in Photoshop and Illustrator and it feels great to feel like a student again. I used to experiment with media a lot while studying at @demontfortuniversity as teachers consistently pushed us to try new things and later adopt the ones we enjoy. It was a way to develop our style spontaneously instead of planning to achieve a certain look. @ema is one of my great university teachers I have to thank for it. As I have loads of artwork left to do in this #100DaysofBetterMe project, I am really looking forward to trying out some new things. It will certainly be a challenge to accept failure along the way.
A quote from Brian Herbert says “The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” What’s the last thing you’ve learned? Was it a skill, a new routine or simply a new way of thinking? What in life has taken you the longest to learn?
